Submitting a sitemap to search engines reflecting any updates will certainly aid your cause. According to Google, a sitemap is “ a file where you can list the web pages of your site to tell Google and other search engines about the organization of your site content. Search engine web crawlers like Googlebot read this file to more intelligently crawl your site.” Don’t put off submitting your sitemap! Stop using keywords in your titles. Why? Because if you don’t know how to optimize a Web page without stuffing your title, then you don’t know how to optimize a Web page. Titles and URLs are options, not requirements, in search engine optimization. Learn to understand and fully appreciate the difference between being able to do something and needing to do something. Think about SEO from the perspective of the minds behind Google. Through deep learning, the goals of the developers behind Google is to generate search results that genuinely benefit the user. Not so long ago, SEO and social media marketing were different things. The idea was that SEO attracted visitors and social media marketing kept them coming back. When it comes to SEO, it’s all about following a correct strategy. SEO is the most cost-effective way to bring new visitors to your website. But, there is no secret method to rank number one in Google. Analyze the competitors SEO moves fast. It’s an ever-changing discipline where what worked six months ago, might be completely out of date. However, there are some fundamentals that stay more or less the same. High authority links are great, but in my opinion, relevant links win the game every time. Importantly, Google is now looking for ways to improve its understanding of non-written words such as through videos and audios, and of course, images. Search engine optimization, while a very technical practice, is a marketing function—and it needs to be treated like one. When content is optimized for SEO before it goes live on the web, it will be prepared for searchers and rank higher on the SERP from the moment of publication. Optimize for Yahoo, Bing, and Others Google does not expect you to meet all of their standards, but they do expect you to at least try your very best. The days of blackhat and grey hat SEO strategies are over. Because there has been quite some news about Google’s Penguin update and before that its Panda update, people are blaming those. Standard SEO advice is to keep the site architecture as flat as possible, to minimize clicks from the home page to important content. Do not go off the deep end, though; too many links on a page are not good for search engines either. Local search success can be achieved by SEO. The rise of social media on the Web has created a host of new signals that search engines can consider. Backlinks are one of the most important factor of off page optimisation to rank your website on SERPs. There are many backlinks, and all are not important. Considering which backlinks are important and which links should be directed to your website, understanding no follow and do follow links is essential. The first indication should be hosting location Gaz Hall, from SEO Hull, had the following to say: "Whatever shows up in the search results box has been searched for before meaning these long tail keywords could be very valuable. But remember these just give you a starting point to work off, people have Googled some quirky things so don’t think just because something shows up that it will make a good long tail keyword. Google suggestions give you a great place to work from but shouldn’t always be taken at face value." In a link building campaign, you have to find target Web sites in the first place, review them to decide if asking for a link is worthwhile, identify the contact person and send them a customized link request. Do a thorough check of your site to make sure it's displaying correctly with no missing content or error messages. If you've recently added a feature or new site design it could be it's slowing the site speed down or causing other problems. Search engines want to deliver the best results to searchers based on the search terms visitors enter. Each year more than 2.8 trillion search queries are made on Google alone. This means that Google answers more than 88,700 searches worldwide per second.i In other words: Every second that your website is not indexed on Google, you miss out on hundreds, if not thousands, of opportunities in which someone might have accessed your website, viewed your content, and bought your product or services. Stick to Your Plan The length of your posts is also an important consideration. Back in the days of spammy-SEO, almost every post was 500 words long. Today, you’ll have the most success by writing posts that are longer and more in-depth. Imagine that your reader is going to sit down with a cup of tea and really dive deep into the subject – that’s the kind of experience that you should be delivering! For many businesses the goal is to get their business to position number 1 on Google, but did you know that there’s a new top spot on Google called position zero. You’ve probably noticed these results but maybe not understood them properly. Position zero is all about using featured snippets to give an informative answer to a user’s query. It’s not uncommon for the results that are further down the first page listings to be featured in position zero. Millions of businesses and individuals are competing for visibility in search engines, and many of them are writing what is, subjectively, “good” content. But what makes that content “good”? Any link that you create on your own should be set at “no follow”. The reason for this is that you’re essentially telling Google that the link was created to generate traffic and not to artificially boost your search engine results. While search engine bots are scanning websites for indexing purposes, they also look for links to other websites.
